What about a way for member's not attending meeting to still suport the Chapter by sending in money for the 50/50 drawing ??? I know this would take a little work but could also help the Chapter with cost.
Go ahead ripp on me..................... _________________ Ed

Rabbit,
We really don't have anythig of the sort in place. We can bring it up at the next meeting and see what, if anything, can be worked out. But thank you for asking. This would be for the meetings, not meets. _________________ Amy

Yes , that way you could build up for the meets where lots of money is spent by the Chapter to bring it off and folks like me , miles and miles away could help the chapter. _________________ Ed

If I remember correctly, I checked into this a couple of years ago and Ohio has a law against buying and selling raffle tickets and such through the mail... . I would appreciate it if someone could look into this a little bit more and give us an update. Thanks. BD _________________ NAFC Life Member

Mailing a lottery or raffle ticket
Lottery and raffle tickets are not permitted mailings within the United States Postal Service.
This prohibition is based on a Federal law (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1302) passed by Congress and signed by the President of the United States. "Lottery or raffle is a scheme or promotion, whether lawful under the laws of any state, which, on paying a consideration, offers a prize dependent in whole or in part on lot or chance."
The U.S. Postal Service has no authority to grant exemptions to this law, and is specifically mandated by Congress to enforce it.

Ok .......
# 1 it (the ticket) would NOT be sent thru the mail.
# 2 IF someone won that would be sent thru the mail.
# 3 I/we or whoever wanted to play would send money to the person in charge of said raffle. To make it easy the money would HAVE to be in the hands of the raffle person before the meeting. When the sale of tickets were done one would be pulled by the person in charge of the meeting for the ones psaid ahead and noted in minutes. Drawn takes place as normal IF a absentte person won that would be posted here and they would contact club as what to do with winnings.
What ya think ???? _________________ Ed

Rabbit,
We will discuss it at the meeting. Arv said that his idea is similar to yours. _________________ Amy

I have an idea first I need to run it by basser to make sure it is kosher, and bring it to the members for their input. This method would work for anyone not able to attend the meeting. _________________ Ohio Chapter Chairman

| I think we are making more of this than need be. It is not really a"raffle". It is a 50 / 50 Drawing within a club. It is not open to the public or publized to the public. It could be just as simple as Ed sending his money to a member and letting them enter the tickets for him. |

The following is from the minutes from March 20, 2010 meeting. The member decided on the following:
50/50 drawing – Ed brought up on site to have some way to be able to have out of state members be able to participate with 50/50 drawing. Tickets can not be mailed. Is it something the Chapter wants to do? Is it beneficial for the Chapter? Offices discussed earlier but it is up for discussion with the members. If someone would like to get involved with 50/50, then it needs to be between the person wanting to participate and another member, but not any of the 8 officers. Will be posted on site. Will not send any tickets out of state of Ohio by mail to anyone, it is illegal to do so.
Thank you everyone! _________________ Amy
